CPHS Back to School procedures for opening of school for 2020-2021

This is James Wells, principal of Caldwell Parish High School.  I'd like to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. We are making this video so that we can make our reopening of the school a little bit more easy for students and faculty as they come beginning of school this year. If you'll follow me into the building I will show you how it's going to work out. When students enter the building they'll need to have their face masks on and need to be able to maintain the 6ft social distancing. As they come in they would go to a table, they will pick up their breakfast to go which would either be in a box or a bag and they will proceed to their first period class based on what hallway they are on. As students enter the school from the bus unloading zone they will come in through the side door of the cafeteria and get their breakfast. They will pick up their breakfast and proceed out the end door, and go to their first period classes. As students are proceeding to their classes each day we're going to ask them if they would remain on the right hand side of hallways as they're going down.  As they enter into the stairwells our stairwells this year are going to be labeled as either up or down. This sign will indicate an up stairwell. As soon as students enter into their classrooms each day the teacher will take the temperature of the student and then documents that on a designated sheet each day. Once the student has had the temperature checked, they will proceed to their desk or their Workstation. They will eat their breakfast inside the classroom and then when the bell rings to start their class they will log into their Google email account go to their Google classrooms and begin their daily assignments. Students will still need to have their face masks on if social distancing of over six feet cannot be maintained in the class. Once classes are finished and it's time to go to the next class students will then take the appropriate type of disinfectant wipes and clean their computer station or desk off before they leave the classroom. Our lunch schedules are going to run the same times. 4th period teachers will bring their students down through the main doors at individual designated times. They will come up the side of the cafeteria to the cafeteria manager station. They will tell them tell their student ID number then they will proceed to the table to pick up their and then they will proceed back to the 4th period class with their teachers. All students will still need to have their face mask on while they're in the building. Students are encouraged to bring bottles of water to school. This water bottle will definitely be acceptable. Anything else in a container will not. Water fountains at this time are still off-limits until further notice. As students feel sick or not well we're advising them not to come to school and to stay at home until they feel better. If parents need to come and check a student out they will not be allowed into our office but they can come to the main window and speak to the secretary and that student may be checked out. Also outside food for lunch cannot be delivered to students anymore at this current time. Students that ride buses to school will be required to have their mask on. Hand sanitizer will be available on all buses. As students enter the bus they will be given some of the hand sanitizer. They will be explained by the bus driver that they must maintain social distancing on the bus. Buses at this time can only carry 50% of their capacity.
